Barbaroslar is a Turkish historical fiction television series that will depict the life of Barbarossa, a “Kapudan Pasha” in charge of all naval forces for the Ottoman Empire. The story takes place during his youth as he struggles to rise through ranks and prove himself worthy by protecting Constantinople from pirates while also dealing with marital issues at home.

It is a historical fiction television series created by ES Film, starring Engin Altan Düzyatan and Ulaş Tuna Astepe in the lead roles. The show depicts the life of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha, known as one of “the Great Triumvirate” alongside Mehmed II and Sokollu Mehmet Paşa who also served under Suleiman I’s rule.
The action-packed series is written by Cüneyt Aysan, Ozan Aksungur and Oğuz Ayaz. The scenes will be filmed in Istanbul as well as Algeria to give it an authentic feel of the region; shooting began at the end of March 2021 for this exciting new show!
The casting of the actors and actresses for Barbaros is still ongoing. It was originally confirmed that Çağatay Ulusoy would be a member of the cast, with several lead roles in different episodes; however, he later announced his departure from production due to other filming obligations. Engin Altan Düzyatan revealed himself as one of the participants after being caught outside a gym by paparazzi cameras–he replied saying that this series had been important enough for him to train hard again despite having previously retired 15 years ago.
The new series is expected to release in September 2021. It’s anticipated that it will consist of 5-6 episodes, and once filming has been completed the show should be aired as soon as possible. The first teaser trailer for this upcoming series is released.
